Cardiff have signed lock Jonny Green from Harlequins on a long-term deal with immediate effect.

The signing follows the announcement that George Nott will retire from professional rugby in December. Green is 22 and made 30 appearances for Harlequins after debuting in 2022.

He was born in England but qualifies for Wales through his mother's side of the family. Wales has noticed him before: he was invited to train with the senior squad during the 2024 Six Nations, and head coach Steve Tandy mentioned him after naming his summer squad.

Green himself said: "The main things I bring are physicality and work rate".

According to BBC Sport, Green is targeting his debut once the November break for the Nations Championship has passed. He will compete with Teddy Williams, Josh McNally, Rory Thornton and Tom Manz for game time.

BBC Sport also reports that Cardiff are seventh in the URC.
