South Africa have a strong record against Italy. The Italians have beaten the Springboks only once, 20-18 in Florence in 2016. The sides' only previous meeting in Turin was last year, when the Springboks won 32-14.

They beat New Zealand 3-1 in the series earlier this year, but lost narrowly to Australia in Perth.
