Kurtley Beale stays with Western Force as Harrison Goddard joins for 2027

Both players have signed season-long train-and-trial deals and can play on injury cover contracts if a member of the Force's wider squad is injured.

Kurtley Beale, now 37 and with 95 Wallabies caps, will spend another season in Perth. He has re-committed to the Western Force for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific campaign, and scrum-half Harrison Goddard arrives alongside him.

Neither player has a full contract. Both have signed season-long train-and-trial deals, which means they can be called up on injury cover contracts if someone in the Force's wider squad gets hurt.

For Beale, the deal extends a stay in the west that has already lasted two and a half seasons. His form in 2024 earned him a recall to the Wallabies, and he was one of the Force's standout players when they won the recent Super Rugby AUS title. He also finished third in the vote for that competition's Player of the Tournament.

"My family and I are rapt to remain in the west, which we've made home for the past few years," Beale said.

He brings plenty of experience. Beale has 187 Super Rugby caps: 148 for the Waratahs, 25 for the Force and 14 for the Rebels. Overseas, he has played for Racing and Wasps.

Goddard adds half-back depth

Goddard, 28, comes to Perth after a season in Japan with the Shimizu Blue Sharks. Before that he made more than 50 Super Rugby appearances across spells with the Melbourne Rebels, the NSW Waratahs and the ACT Brumbies. He has also played for Australia at under-20 level and for the LA Giltinis.

"Joining the Western Force is an exciting new challenge and an opportunity I'm hungry for," Goddard said.

He will compete for places with the Force's current half-backs: Luke Aiken, Nathan Hastie, Agustin Moyano and Henry Robertson.

Force head coach Simon Cron said the club was pleased to hold on to Beale and add Goddard for 2027, a season in which the Force will play eight home games at HBF Park.
