Glasgow Warriors beat the Lions 28-20 in the URC at Scotstoun Stadium on Friday 30 October 2026. The visitors came back hard in the second half, but a late George Horne penalty took away the losing bonus point they had been heading for.

The damage was done before the break. Wing Fergus Watson got past both flyhalf Chris Smith and centre Henco van Wyk to score. Flyhalf Dan Lancaster added the second try around the half-hour mark.

Hooker Jack Singleton then scored Glasgow's third try. It was his debut for the club and his first game in 13 months.

Lions fight back

The second half belonged largely to the visitors. Scrumhalf Morné van den Berg scored the Lions' first try in the 49th minute, and flank Siba Mahashe and replacement hooker Morné Brandon both crossed after that.

Glasgow had the final word. Fullback Ollie Smith scored the hosts' fourth try in the 76th minute to earn the bonus point, and Horne's late penalty meant Ivan van Rooyen's side left with nothing.

Most of their Scotland internationals were missing, because only five of the 19 Warriors in the national squad were released for the match. Even so, they stretched an unbeaten home run at Scotstoun that goes back to April 2025.

Away form keeps hurting the Lions

For the Lions, the problem is now a familiar one. They won their first two URC games at home, but this was their third away defeat in a row. They have not won a match outside South Africa since they beat Zebre in Parma in October 2024.
